Naturalization or Derivative Citizenship

One area of immigration practice that our office takes great pleasure in is assisting clients who are ready to naturalize and become a U.S. Citizen. Whether you are a Lawful Permanent Resident, or claiming citizenship derived from a U.S. Citizen parent, the Law Office of Jennifer Fabian-Verzosa can be your guide every step of the way. CLICK HERE to read about the “Top 8 Reasons You Should Naturalize” or HERE for why “To Vote For President, You Must First Become a U.S. Citizen.”

If we determine you are eligible to apply, we will assist you in preparing a strong application. We will also provide you with an individualized study plan for the U.S. History/Government Test, monitor your progress, and give you a variety of resources and fun materials to help you prepare.

We will also coach you one-on-one for your USCIS interview so that you know what to expect and will feel ready for potential areas of questioning. Good preparation is the key to overcoming nervousness during the interview. At your request, the attorney can also attend your naturalization interview with you (local clients).

There are many steps involved, with certain clients eligible for a shorter test or waiver of some of the requirements. Spouses who have recently married a U.S. Citizen are subject to shorter residency requirements. Having an immigration attorney evaluate your current eligibility is the first step towards a strong application. You can learn about some of the benefits of representation by viewing our list of Attorney Services below.

Child of a U.S. Citizen

Could you already be a U.S. Citizen? If *one* or *both* of your parents are U.S. Citizens, you might already be a U.S. Citizen! That means you would not have to go through the naturalization process. The process for derived Citizenship from Parents is easier, with less requirements. However, you must satisfy very specific laws and criteria to qualify for this route, so not everyone who has a U.S. Citizen parent qualifies. We can help determine your eligibility.

  • Child of a U.S. Citizen Residing Outside the U.S.

If you are the child of a U.S. Citizen and you reside overseas, you may already be a U.S. Citizen! As part of the process, you will eventually have to come to the United States for a USCIS interview (unless your parent is currently in the U.S. military). Our office can help you with all aspects of this process. There seems to be plenty of confusion about this process, so be careful about making costly and incorrect mistakes with regards to your application. Please contact our law office for assistance from a knowledgeable immigration attorney.

  • Extended Travel Outside the U.S.

If you are a Permanent Resident who needs to travel or vacation outside the U.S. for a lengthy period of time (1 year vacation to the Philippines, for example), USCIS must be properly notified or else you could be considered as having “abandoned” your permanent resident status. Similarly, an extended absence outside the U.S. may affect your eligibility for naturalization. Our office can help you with the necessary documentation so that you can engage in worry-free travel.

Limited Scope Representation

If you have already submitted your application to USCIS, or if you would like help only on certain parts of your application, we can limit our representation to those areas and you can take care of the rest. For example, if you only need help preparing for your USCIS interview or have some questions about supporting documentation and evidence requirements, you can consult with us or have us review some of your documents. This service is provided on an hourly basis. You can learn more about our “Unbundled Legal Services” here.

Expired or Expiring Green Card

Do you need to renew or replace your green card? Are you worried about the consequences associated with an expired green card, including its effect on your travel and employment?

Our Convenient and Affordable Renewal Service includes speedy completion of your green card renewal application and an initial consultation to address any worries you might have about your expired or expiring green card. We will also monitor your case until you get your green card!

  • Your complete package includes:

    • Assistance with Supporting Documentation, including Letters and Affidavit of Support (if necessary): I will prepare and file all of the required forms and give you a list of the supporting documentation you need for your family-based petition or application for adjustment of status.
    • Monitoring of your case: Even after we have submitted your application, I will monitor your case until an initial decision is made by USCIS or U.S. Department of State.
    • Interview Preparation: I will fully prepare you for your USCIS (or Consular) Interview so that you are not nervous and you know what to bring.
    • U.S. Port of Entry Procedures Preparation (for family beneficiaries outside the U.S.): Unfortunately, simply getting your visa approved by the U.S. Consulate is not the final step for your trip. You can still be refused entry at the airport or border by The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials. That is why you should have an attorney every step of the way. You really do not want to spend money on your trip, just to be refused at the port of entry. I will prepare you for procedures at your particular U.S. Port of Entry and any potential areas of questioning so that you can continue on your way.
    • Online Client Portal: Your own private and secure Client Communication Portal where you can view case updates, send me secure messages and questions, and exchange and review documents with me. Available 24/7!
    • Unlimited Communication: You will never have to worry about not being able to get a hold of your attorney. You can send unlimited messages and questions regarding your case, via your dedicated Client Communication Portal.
    • Last, but most importantly, MY COMMITMENT to each and every one of my clients.

*Note: ALL of these services are available only if you hire me to prepare your immigration paperwork. Not all of the Attorney Services listed above are available if you purchase only Limited Scope Representation, a Second Opinion, or a Strategy Consultation by itself.

We look forward to assisting you on your road to American citizenship! Please fill out a brief Contact Form, email us at contact@law-jf.com, or call the office.
